Countering gods' wishes

Post by Halaster Blackcloak »

Yeah, I'm on a posting rampage today. Looks like both Garkal and myself decided to start some new threads at the same time.

So, in the 1E DMG, on pg. 130, it says:

"Note that no wish is able to cancel the decrees of god-like beings, unless it comes from another such creature."

I've always played it that way but I'm not sure I ever noticed this particular sentence before. I do like that it is a written rule.

OPM would disagree. :P But it sure seems like he's godlike.

At the edge of madness, he will show no sadness
Never broken, he'll be back for more
Proven under fire, over trench and wire
No fear of death, he's unshakeable
Forged for the war, he's unbreakable

McDeath, can you do me a favor? Try to resize huge pics when you post them? They make the page have to scroll left to right and I'm not sure how to edit the tags to reduce the size.

Who is OPM? I don't recognize the character.

The only time i've ever seen it in game, was as a player.

IIRC a major baddie had just used a wish he was rewarded by his deity. Several game sessions later, we met up again with the baddie, and one of the party had a wish he just got, and tried to 'dispel' the wish the baddie had used (as it iirc, made him immune to many of our attacks).
The dm reminded us of that clause under the wish spell, and asked if the player really was wanting to try and waste the wish spell like that..

He said yes.
The DM said, ok the wish is expended, but nothing happens.

For some reason this site and a few others has extreme difficulty with [fimg=x,y] ......[/fimg]

I'll try again.

One-Punch man is basically satire on all superheroes and villains. Due to a regime of 100 squats, 100 push ups, 100 sit ups and a 10km a day run & no Air condintioning he became a superpowered human capabable of destroying any opponent in 1 PUNCH.

I guess i'll use this http://www.simpleimageresizer.com/

And save to my own imgur account.

Oh yes, I heard of that character! It was on something on Netflix where I heard about him. I thought he was some anime character or something.

Kinda yes kinda no. Yeah he has a manga and anime but tbh, the anerican dub of season 1 is best. I've seen the sub jap one and its ok. Season 2 was lackluster. I followed the episodes on cartoon network but bingwatched hulu jap version in a night. There's a small cult following i suppose of sorts.
