Carry capacity for NON-standard mounts?

Through many books/novels etc, we often see folks riding non-standard mounts. Such as Riding rams or war-boars for dwarves, or big bucks for elves.

What source would someone use to come up with how much carry capacity those non-standard mounts could have?
Would saddles and such , cost the same for those creatures?

I don't have those pdf's. Most of what i HAVE in PDF format, are the stuff for starwars d6, or the Fiend folio...

I was thinking for a Riding ram base its carry capacity on 1/3rd of what a donkey has, 1/2 for a riding bear, 1/4th for a boar.
