Spelljammer 5e

Post by McDeath »

Anyone buying the pack? As a collector, I may pick up the typical cheap package not special alt covers. Normally, I'd wait until a pirate pdf apoears but that might not happen. OAR6 temple of elemental evil never found its way to me (if it exists).

I have basically everything physical of SJ except figurines. So, I'm thinking about it even if it will probably suck and I know they ripped their design from the dragon magazine issue that had VOIDJAMMERS. Sure as fuck seems like it.

Sorry to make you vomit hal. Hard to weigh what is worse; 5e/4e/3e ROU vs SJ 5e. I'd say ROU because it shits on the original boxed set bad. SJ... well, its always been weird.

The vomiting stopped after a few minutes!

I can't say for sure about Spelljammer since I hated even the 2E version. But the 3E, 4E, and 5E "Undermountain" releases are blasphemous travesties on an order of magnitude so high that I can't even express it with the help of a scientific calculator! Everything after 2E sucked shit. 3E was the wet dream of weak minded, immature simpletons. 3.5E was the functional equivalent to adding ballast to an already sinking ship. 4E was a greedy corporate money grab in a pathetic attempt to boost the miniatures industry. 5E is a pre-set, railroad-ish video game travesty.

1E was amazing but it needed some work. 2E fixed some things but screwed up others. Taking the best parts of each creates the Ultimate Edition. Everything else is just crap. I have nightmares about playing as a player in 5E Undermountain on Level 9...

Me: "My thief stealthily creeps across the floor and listens to the door."
DM: "You hear nothing."
Me: "I check for traps."
DM: "You find none."
Me: "I open the door."
DM: "You see a closet, empty and devoid of objects except for a broom."
Me: "I detect magic on the broom."
DM: "No magic. Just a normal broom."
Me: "I open the next door."
DM: "There's a shield on the wall."
Me: "So just another empty room except for a shield on the wall that has unholy symbols carved into it, same as the last 4 rooms?"
DM: "Yeah. Same shit different day."
Me: "I close the door and go to the next room."
DM: "There are some butterflies in the room."
Me: "Do they attack or anything?"
DM: "No, they're just flying around ignoring you."
Me: "If I blaspheme my god and all the other gods I can think of, is there any chance one of them will strike me dead and save me from this boring dungeon?"

The video 5e produced was rather stupid. I 'm not even sure on the source of this particular space hamster except maybe a BG reject (Baldur's Gate CRPG).

The two leads Chris Perkins & Trystan Falcone

Odd they'd say deep space meets deep sea since I hear this now takes place in thd deep astral or ethereal. Meh. She er he Trystan looks woke as fuck and Chris has cucked up.

I bet they used a random generator on some of that 5e UM. No... I'd get better results with a rando dungeon.

Anyway, 23rd of august it ships i guess. I bet I won't be able to decipher any of it. Why'd I buy it? I'm curious on quality of the construction, errors, and how much was even retained. From PDFS, I can venture a guess that it will barely cover everything needed to even adventure uh.. "astral space?"

On that point, I can assure you it's not what they did. How do I know that? Because even a shitty random generator would have produced a better product! Well, that and the fact that the writer put shields on the walls in 6 out of 10 rooms or something. So many things in that dungeon that it couldn't have been randomly generated. It's like the writer had a fetish for certain things (such as shields on the wall) and tried to milk each fetish for all it was worth. Horrendous!

You mean you bought the 5E Spelljammer? #@

Yeah, I just wanted to see as I was an SJ enthusiast. I thought Garkal liked a few SJ products. If they deliver a pdf then I'll host it.

Well Hal, it arrived today. Heft lil box feels like it weighs 5 lbs but the ancient luggage scale says 3 lbs. I'll get pics. There is a Hamster doing the cha-cha with a beholder, a giff, a mechanoid, a space monkey, a bearded mage (elminister or 5e Hal), and some other colorful buccanneers under a rainbow/violet aura ring of rocks and planets. Got mine off of amazon.

I wouldn't even give 5e to any of my enemies...

It'll probably be the only one. A thing I am seeing with all these companies is this sleeve holder and 3+ hard bound books and loose maps & sceeen sets. The Dark tower KS is doing it, OAR 6 TOEE did it and probably many others. A SJ PURCHASE i should try is a few of the battle mats posters from the old sets. I think i used mine on cardboard somewhere. Stupid shit from the past.
