McDeath, I wrote Halaster about that thread and he was disappointed to see a lot of what he called mis-perceptions going on, so he asked me to post some explanations there. Hopefully that clears up any misunderstandings people may have.
Halaster, is there any way to make registration easier, without you having to manually sign people up? Doesn't that visual verification thing work? It seems the total sign-up ban is creating some misunderstandings over there (at DF).

Yeah, I'm rather displeased that many still hold a bit of a grudge. I do know that various people end up leaving for various reasons:

brocolirage
Bargle the Infamous
and probably others....
In the BIP thread I revived they did say you need a sense of humour, but I think some members use a pack mentality rather than standing up for the rights involved for all members of the board. Being civil isn't terribly hard to do. I know some try to lighten things with levity but as far as I've seen lately, it just seems to fail in the end.

I thought I saw a post at K&K Alehouse (I think) about Llauranella - wasn't she the person who pretended to commit suicide and it turned out to be a false report she made up or something?
I wonder how many of the grudge-holders there will change their tune when they realize they weren't being personally excluded, but rather got caught in the security apparatus? Hopefully they'll be man enough to admit their mistake.

Yeah, I seem to remember it being Llauranela who posted her own death notice or something like that. I have no idea what that was about, only that it was discussed at DF, the Acaeum, K&K Alehouse, etc, and that it was faked or something.
Thanks to Jared, Varl, and McDeath for setting the record straight in that thread. There will always be people holding grudges and thinking the worst, that's just part of being on the internet. To each his own. I just don't want misunderstandings, or worse yet, outright lies being spread about BIP due to old grudges.
It seems on that thread that a lot of the confusion came as a result of a combination of old "enemies" assuming the worst, and people simply not being aware of the registration policy to keep out spammers. I guess I should make a more visible post about it, though even then a lot of people may try signing up without reading the post. I gotta figure something out. I certainly don't want to go back to spending 20 minutes a day deleting spam accounts when it takes me less than 5 minutes to set up a valid new account for an actual new member. We just added 5 new people in 2 months, so that's cool!
As I told Jared to specifically post, everyone is welcome here. Yes, even Gene can come here and debate Undermountain with me and tell me how much it sucks, and he and I can get into a 12 page point-by-point debate about it. It's fun, I don't mind, and I don't hold it against him. We all have different tastes, but we all love OOP AD&D. Some like 1E more, some like 2E better, many of us prefer a hybrid of the two, and there's others who prefer basic D&D or OD&D. They're all great.
There's very little I won't tolerate. I won't allow spam ads for viagra or posts by spammers from Argentina who want us to open a bank account so that we can split the $500,000 we just inherited.
Off topic stuff doesn't bother me, unless it starts to drown out the on topic stuff as it often does in the General form at DF. I still think they should create an OT sub-forum. Fixes everything and everyone is happy.
Of course, I won't allow flame wars from the past to pop up here. But I'd trust anyone who joins to not go there. Hell, Axe Mental and I agree on 99% of things we've ever discussed. I think the only thing I can ever remember him disagreeing with me on is Undermountain. He hated it, I loved it. On every other issue or topic I recall, we agreed.
I'm a fierce debater and can get very "into" a heated argument, but I virtually never take it seriously. I never took it seriously even at Green Dragon Inn, where Traveller and I sought to showcase the extreme absurdity of the whole flaming thing and the ridiculousness of the OOP community being split. I think a lot of people didn't get it. They pictured me with the vein in my forehead throbbing like I was tempting an aneurysm, pounding my bloody fingers into the keyboard, and drooling like I was rabid. But in reality I'd be sitting back laughing out loud and having fun. Just for kicks (after someone posted the previous description of me), I once tested my blood pressure in the middle of a heated post. 120/80, same as always. I enjoy a good heated battle, no question about it.
But to me it's just entertainment, not personal.
Anyway, I just don't want people thinking anyone is unwelcome here. As long as they aren't coming in simply to rekindle old flame wars, I'm cool with pretty much anyone who wants to join. I really don't have the time, energy, or desire to play in flame wars anymore. My time is a lot tighter nowadays, and I have to budget it towards those things most important. So online time is devoted mainly to the BIP Project and fun discussions.
McDeath, I don't worry about nasty emails or comments by others. If someone hates me, that's their issue. There are a few people who I am sure will forever hate me no matter how big an olive branch I offer. So be it. I don't even care enough to argue it with them. Like I said, I just don't want other people being scared off by rumors, misunderstandings, lies, etc.
I think what we're doing is fun, exciting, and of course rewarding, as it's cool to see others enjoying what you write. I really hope that Ruins of Undermountain III: The Deadly Levels blows away everyone who reads it. It's a literal labor of love and I think people can pick up on stuff like that in any product or medium. Like the movie Equinox for example.
Last year we released the Caves of Sydwall adventure that PaSquall wrote, and I played it with one of my old players. We loved it! I heard some great reviews from a few others who downloaded it and played it. And I got some good reviews of Halaster's Tome of Monsters, so that seemed to work well. Two good releases in 2007.
In 2008 we will have at least the box set for Ruins of Undermountain III: The Deadly Levels released, and hopefully some other stuff. Even if all we get out this year is the RoUIII project, that's a major, major accomplishment. I don't think anyone else at this point is writing such extensive content for OOP material, outside of perhaps Rob Kuntz's classic stuff (Bottle City, etc). We're talking 4 poster sized maps, 150-200 pages of new material, 124 developed rooms, dozens of new monsters, magic items, spells, and NPCs, etc. That's why I want this to be perfect. I'm a perfectionist in nature. I'll re-write a room 50 times if I need to, in order to get it right.
I hope to also have the Curse of Lemora adventure ready for either a 4th of July release or a Halloween release. And if we get people rolling, maybe we can have the Illusionist Handbook ready. That would be great, since what I've seen from the developers so far is straight up fantastic, and on a par with the awesome Necromancer Handbook. People are going to sit down and catch their breath when they see what the development team puts out in that release!
Anyway, I just hope more people jump on board and join in the fun, because that's what the BIP Project was always about from day one...people getting together and having fun while pooling talents so that we can all have some professional quality new OOP content. I hope we continue to sign up enthusiastic new members, because the energy just snowballs and it helps keep me on my toes.

Hello! I'm back...and I've never even BEEN here before! 
About Llaurenela though, I don't think it was fake, I think she's actually dead. She has her own forum over at Knights & Knaves still, and it's been barely touched by anyone since her last post on Sep 05, 2006. She had a lot of friends at K&K who believe she died, too. It's hard to believe she could have just abandoned them.
There was a lot of speculation back then, though.

Oh, and it's gotta be a gutteral G, never a soft J. 'Cause that would just be...weird!
