Re: My newest acquisitions

Castles Forlorn was cool, with the undead Loch Ness monster! Oh, I had fun with that! Arabian Adventures was a great resource as well. Lots of cool new material. Star Frontiers I never played specifically. I incorporated it into my old Gamma World campaign. First the nuclear war, then the...

Re: Using the WEB spell, when OUTSIDE?

I don't go in too deep into physics with undead. Undead are silent, so they're always silent - even when crossing leaves, branches, etc. As for infravision, it depends on how you use it. If you go with the infrared explanation, they can't see undead because undead are room temperature. I don't perso...

Re: When continual damage??

Oh god! Sorry I haven't checked in, in awhile. Been so busy with Halloween season stuff (2 movies a night, etc). I used to do it on initiative, i.e. if the priest went on a 5 initiative and cast heat metal, then the heating effect hits every round at initiative of 5. But it got tedious tracking that...

Lloth, Lolth, or...

I was thinking about something just now. As she originally appeared, the demoness goddess of the Drow was named Lloth . Later, in the 2E FR, her name was changed to Lolth . I always liked Lloth better. But it just hit me...how do you pronounce Lloth? With the double-L, we might pronounce it "Li...

Lots and lots of copies!

When you get a chance, I'd love to hear from you and Garhkal in the RoU Developer forum about those spells I posted. Still trying to figure out what to do with them.

Re: Update - August 2022

Goddamn near had a heart attack just now! All the files dated for 5-27-21 (the most current dated files) seem to be corrupted (0 bytes - empty), although I had back ups of all of them - except the core rooms for Level 8! I opened an earlier version of Level 8 Core Rooms and noticed a dozen rooms mis...

Update - August 2022

Ok guys, here's some updated news. I figured I'd start a new thread since it's been awhile. I've been getting in the mood to write, which is good since I only have technically 12 rooms left for Level 8 in order to wrap up all the room descriptions for the entire box set. Here's what's making this sl...

Re: Are worgs irredeamably evil?

I tend not to see more natural (i.e. real world and similar) animals as set in their listed alignments, i.e. I wouldn't consider a worg wolf "irredeemably" evil. Especially since the monster write up says they have a "tendency towards evil". In other words, they tend to be evil, ...

Re: Wild large cats, that can be ridden??

McDeath, I remember that combat shield! Obviously the creature on the right is a shambling mound, the center I suppose is an owlbear (though its face looks wrong), but what the hell is that supposed to be on the left? A troll? Damned muscular for a troll!

Re: Wild large cats, that can be ridden??

One of my goofy players - he played a wizard in my original Undermountain campaign - wanted a displacer beast as a familiar.  He had gotten a wish somehow - a genie bottle or a scroll or something. He wanted to use the wish to get a displacer beast familiar. Note that this was maybe a ...

Re: Wild large cats, that can be ridden??

For small PCs like halflings, gnomes, etc., I'd allow them to ride most wild large cats as long as: 1. The cat is on the large size for its species - even a cougar could probably "ride" a halfling or gnome. Lynxes are pretty strong too. Panthers, cheetahs and the like are built more for sp...

As far as I'm seeing, they're correct. I verified Castles , Dragon Mountain , Night Below and a few others. Yeah, it's a bitch to sort out that stuff! Re: Map sizes & printing

I know from speaking with the mappers that a vector program is a huge must have when rendering maps. I spoke with Govi last Friday. He's doing some tweaks we needed to the Level 8 maps. I think he's still using Illustrator for the maps.
