On a completely unrelated note, I find it amusing that you go through the trouble to mask the email, but use gmail.

I'm more in favor of treating MR as the MR vs 1st level spells, then reducing it by 5% for each level of spell it is above first. That gives a reason to use those high level spells to get past it rather than Magic Missile.

They were always demons and devils in our games, if we didn't like the changes 2E made, we didn't use them, simple as that :D

I hate the idea of Planescape too, sorry, the Outer Planes aren't there for mortals to live in.

Having used a similar sword in the past, the way we worked it didn't have percentages, but the sword would slice the barriers. Not destroy them. So you had to cut a hole big enough for your purposes. (minimum 3 rounds to get through a barrier if you used a triangular cut) The sword we had was +5, so...

Been playtesting D&D Next, there's still a lot of areas that need work, but the basic premise is much like 1E in it's simplicity. 3E and 4E are crap as far as I'm concerned, but Next has potential. Might be TOO simple if you were heavily into 2E's options though :D They have been running this at...

You could create one in GIMP by making a very large brush spot, then using a smaller brush spot with the eraser. then erase the part you don't want.

Do this on a separate layer, the place it over the original layer.

Maybe use Demi-Shadow Monsters or Shadow Monsters?

Improved Phantasmal Force doesn't have intelligible speech, but Shadow Monsters are quasi-real.

Finally saw The Hobbit on DVD. It was entertaining, but if you expect it to be as the book you might not like it. They have taken quite a few liberties. Probably because you couldn't make it into a trilogy otherwise :D I had to laugh at one spot, the only Wilhelm Scream in the movie was from a gobli...

Way too much snow and cold here. Even when we've had warmer days, like 40F, so little snow melts off that you'd never notice it. And I HATE snow. But I married a Minnesotan. Who can never get enough of it. My cats cuddle close to me seeking warmth too. That's good at least :) Mira (Si hoc adfixum in...

I haven't seen it yet, though we plan to at some point. I just don't want to deal with the 3D version, which is what most of the theaters have. I liked The Avengers movie myself, there were some very repeatable lines in there. IMO, The Hulk had a some of the best scenes. I do have to admit that most...

I've never really worried about it, I've created many new critters, some have been named the same in other supplements as I would find out later, but I didn't care, I used them how I made them in the first place :) In my longest running game, I had drow that were very different from the books, mostl...

That was one thing I liked about 1E AD&D, the NWPs were NOT defined, and therefore were not a big impact on the game. I didn't hate the 2E NWPs entering in, but we never really gave them a lot of notice, they existed, but didn't define us. I don't want a lot of rules for stuff that is only flavo...

I like it :) Should take the players quite some time to get through it if they manage to survive it. Mostly looks like a few spelling errors and formating issues would clean it up to a more 'professional' quality.

I was wondering if we might want to have a section for custom stuff we have all created, it's not directly part of the BIP project, but it might be fun to see what all people have created. Personally, I don't visit any other AD&D related sites, so it would be nice to see it here :) Mira (Too bus...

We recently switched from Comcast because they were proving terribly unreliable here in MN. When we used it in IL, it was generally pretty good. Now we're on Qwest DSL fiber-optic and it's WAY faster than Comcast ever was. I can't really test on Speedtest at the moment, I have some anime torrents co...
