Re: Ghoul Paralysis.. How long?

Holy shit! I've been so busy I haven't checked into the forums in awhile. It's been tricky flipping my sleep cycle and jumping from not working to going full time. Over the years, i've seen many different responses on how long Ghoul (and ghast) paralysis lasts.. FOR ME, i have made it, d6+2 rounds f...

Hopefully they're in good shape. Those maps are hard to find in mint condition. Even unfolded once or twice, then stored, the chipping begins.

Re: Paladin king, crime and punishment..

It's a complex situation that depends in large part on a great number of factors - the tone of the campaign, the nature of the campaign world (or more accurately, the alignment of the nation in question), the alignment of the king, the alignment of the hiring party, the laws of the land, the particu...

Damn! I've been so busy I didn't notice we had new threads! So, tell me if I'm understanding the question correctly. Are you saying that the adventuring party is asking the king to send criminals to serve as retainers/henchmen/servants with the adventuring party, instead of jailing them? If so, I'd ...

Here's some info you can share over there (feel free to reword it - I know you can't say "fake" pandemic at DF  )... The chaos over the (fake) pandemic and a major computer crash (Windows) has thrown a monkey wrench into everything. So work slowed to a crawl at best. The current stat...

Re: Memorizing out of some one else's spellbook?

I never gave it much thought. I do recall there being something written somewhere in the rules that said each wizard uses a unique style of writing or something along those lines, so two independent wizards writing the same spell would be impossible for them to read each others' spell without resort...

Re: Wizard Lock question

Thinking about it now, it does make more sense for wizard lock to have a password. If the wizard sends his apprentice to the library or lab to fetch some rare tome or something, it makes sense to have the door magically locked, so the apprentice would need a password.

Re: Wizard Lock question

No, not at all. I don't see any problem with doing that. It actually sorta makes sense for the spell to work that way. I've just never changed it myself because I didn't see a need to during any games we've played - it was never even thought of. There's also the option of creating a new spell - mayb...

Re: Wizard Lock question

I don't. I look at it like this. The priest spell glyph of warding is sort of like a blessing, since the spell is bestowed by the priest's god. The priest's role is a protector and proselytizer, so using this spell, he is sort of "protecting his flock". The priest gets to determine who sha...

Let me take a peek in that guide. I could swear they had some info on wooden constructions. WAIT! I remember! It's in the 1E DMG! :D "Wooden buildings take approximately one-half the time it takes to construct similar buildings with stone." ~ 1E DMG, pg. 106 It then lists some basic constr...

I go the opposite way. I see it as far too much "papers and paychecks". First, imagine how many spell components a 12th level wizard must have, with 21 spells memorized and each requiring one or more physical components. Now imagine having to sort and carry all those components for just on...

Left out the last question. I always have spells work the same for NPCs and PCs. So however the spell works for (or on) the PCs, is how it works for (or on) the NPCs or monsters.

Re: How do YOU handle COMMAND (the 1st lev spell)

A command spell consists of only one single word , one command. It is a one-word instruction. But I've always used a simple test for that spell, in order to determine what happens. The test consists of imagining or thinking of the spell as being phrased as: "I command you to __________" , ...
