We also had a simplified set of specialty priests, of which I was rather fond. Anyone playing a cleric had to be a specialty priest, and got a different selection of spheres, along with a few minor bonuses or penalties (cast light 2x/day, +2 effective levels when turning, etc). We had a couple FR go...

Varl, maybe you've posted it before, but can you remind us what you're using for projector mapping? Software/hardware/cost/any caveats you can think of would be really helpful. I'd love to give it a go if I ever had the time to make up some nice maps. All I've ever seen is those crazy over-the-top &...

Lots of good AD&D memories in those pictures! That C&C PH has me hankering to give C&C another shot next time we can get the ol' band back together. I have to admit, I like those D&D minis for what they are. Enough of them don't suck that you can actually use them as a cheap band of ...

RE: laptops - agreed, they can be a great DM tool. But you should have seen this table with 5 of them sitting there. I don't know how you'd even reach the chips around them without knocking over your drink. RE: hellboy - I'm too lazy to post a picture, but google image search Hellboy. Marvel (or DC?...

It's EXACTLY like that. I read someone on enworld or somewhere else a while ago saying that they were going to wait for 4.5. They may as well just call it "D&D Vista". Wait for SP1.

I haven't had a chance to listen to it with sound yet, but you can bet I will be when everyone else here goes to lunch. The tiefling thing just sucks. A game with half-demon or -minotaur or whatever they are things just isn't the heroic fantasy I care to play. I am reading through the quotes. Here a...

I don't have a great answer here. The points about too many undeveloped rooms are quite valid. What if my party turns right at that fork, into the massive grey eastern area of the dungeon. Either I need to get creative real fast, or find some way to railroad them back into the developed section of t...

Adventure name/location generator

There was a discussion once at adndcampaigns about how adventure names could pretty easily be generated randomly and were a bit formulaic. I think Zherbus' formula was Monster Name + Location + "of the" + adjective + Unique Monster name...so you'd get something like: Kobold Temple of the R...

Cool thanks! Was just wondering if anyone had played much Traveller and if they'd recommend a particular rules edition and any other materials. If I could ever find a group to play I'd enjoy getting into a dark, epic sort of sci fi game (kinda a-la Riddick) and the second part of the question was wh...

I think Hal's using the chart to determine monster thac0, rather than a PC class chart, but either way it's sometimes off from what's in the MC/MM. I always figured the numbers in the monster stats were what they were for a purpose and as such went with them. The str bonus was another matter though....

Whew, the first one is above my head! Although I agree, it would be terrific. But I'm glad to see interest in the card idea. I'll never be able to produce anything of the visual quality of Paizo (will paste what I came up with once I get my bloody PC back online), but I'd settle for high enough qual...

What do OOP players want?

I'm going back and forth trying to think into what sort of OOP project I'd like to sink my teeth once this season at work calms down and I have some time this summer (and hopefully leave this miserable job!). Obviously modules are always in demand as the number of them published or being worked on h...

Optional/supplemental stats

Just came across mention of a "perception" stat in the thread on powergamers. Does anyone know where that came from or was it a homebrew concept? Back when we had a regular game going, we had been using Wisdom checks to determine if someone spotted or noticed something. It seemed to work p...

I'll second or third or fourth the idea that more variety in poison is better. I never liked save or die ones too much, not because I don't like save or die, but because I thought that very few poisons deserved to be so lethal that there is no time at all to cast neutralize poison.

On a different subject, I'll add to the general consensus that the 2E DMG was lacking. I don't have extensive knowledge of the 1E DMG beyond flipping through someone else's copy a few times, but I get the general idea that it was packed with tables for just about anything you could ever want, and pl...
