Would love to hear about it. It's good to see tabletop games happening. After being involved in the online gaming community long enough I begin to get the feeling that everyone just plays by post online, or talks about it and that the tabletop game is a dying art.

I'd love to, but I'm afraid I'd turn into one of those developers that offers a lot and can't contribute much. Most of the free time I get I'm trying to put into my review site, adding new features and hopefully getting some members! (which a preview of RoUIII would be sure to do I hope)

I like the use of the black & white art. For some reason I always liked that more than the full color pics in 2e.

Hal - if you're still interested in giving out a sneak peak, let me know when one of those random room dressing cards is done, I think that'd be a great preview!

I was picturing the dragon in an enormous cavern and that, indeed, Halaster did keep it fed. Possibly with a gate to the elemental plane of fire somewhere within also, out of which the dragon could swoop in a fierly blaze, while the adventurers stand stranded in the middle of a desolate mile wide ch...

At the risk of being terribly boring, I suggest having at least one very classic high level adversary, along the lines of a Great Wyrm Red. Maybe to give it some unique flavor, make him/her equally mad as Halaster. On the killing Halaster subject, in the unlikely event that ever happens, it would be...

I actually like most, but certainly not all, of the black & white monstrous compendium sketches. I don't know exactly the word for what it was I dislike about the monstrous manuals: too cartooney maybe? The colors just don't seem to work right for me. As for the MC pages themselves, I'm probably...

Have you considered using a wiki? It's a terrific tool for collaborative works. You could set up the shell of the illusionists handbook, with blank pages for each chapter or section, and of course each page has a discussion page attached, so you could work out details on the actual class chapter whe...

You are not allowed to have a different opinion! Conform now! :P

Seriously though, you're welcome either way. A healthy debate in the comments is exactly what we need to draw in some interest.

It's looking good Minstrel! :D One thing though...the images of the character sheets open a window to a pop up that shows a crossed out camera (ie not allowed). Are the sheets supposed to show? Also, I'd love to contribute the reviews I wrote for ADDC.com for the new site. Is it possible you...

Be glad to have you contribute Blackmote. If you sign up and find something you'd like to review for orcforge, just shoot me an email at minstrel {at} orcforge.net or pm me here and I can escalate your account to be able to write reviews, or blog too. I have a lot of flexibility with the site, and I...

A wee new site - orcforge.net

I have set up a new site dedicated to reviewing back-in and out of print material for AD&D and other classic gaming systems. Zherbus has already contributed a TON of material in the form of reviews of some classic TSR products, and I just wrapped up a review of net-published character sheets. I'...

I never found anything remotely difficult about THAC0, nor did I understand the complaints that it was too difficult. I won't argue that it's better than the d20 method (which really IS the same thing, just looked at from a different angle), but so much harder...nope, just don't get that. To try to ...

I see people at other forums talking about the Forgotten Realms and worrying about how to "keep them alive". I think they're quite alive and well, right where they're supposed to be, in the setting from the old grey boxed set. Old gray box set? Is that pre or post Time of Trouble? Time of...

As I said once before, I will still give the books a quick skim over in the store, just to be fair, but I doubt this time, unlike with 3e, that I'll actually fork over the cash for a set. Just based on what's been "officially" released for info, it's clear enough to me that the new edition...

My god, they took the time to put together a 56 page booklet on what they're speculating about the rules for 4e? I wish I had one quarter of that amount of time to dedicate to real hobby work on editions that have actually been printed yet!

I'm just looking for a practicle way to do it, with out completely ruining the system, or creating musclulared skilled archer's able to throw rocks a 1/4 mile and accurately hit something either. My point was mostly that the upper range of the range categories (at least as it applied to bow...

I've always found the ranges/penalties TSR gave bows to be very generous. While I suspect it's technically feasable to shoot a longbow 200 yards, doing so to hit anything other than a stationary target would be very hard. I'd say along the lines of -15 or higher to hit, rather than just -5. And that...

How ever over at DF, some one suggetsed to just use the str pen/bonus for dmg as a +/-10yrd per +/- of the stat to adjust the MAX range of str dependant weapons. which I like and fits in with your concern of increased ranges and accuracy. That's how I'd proceed if I were to implement it. While it's...
