Spoiler Information: Defenders #8

Dormammu has secured Loki's aid in his sinister plot by promising to restore Loki's eyesight (Loki was rendered blind in his battle with Thor in Thor # 207). And so begins one of the best supervillain team ups ever written! Meanwhile, back at Dr. Strange's Sanctum, the good doctor uses his Orb of Agamotto to contact the spirit of the BlackKnight. The Black Knight sends his reply, basically saying "I'm ok, I trust you guys will rescue me". A cool note here...Dr. Strange refers to the Enchantress's spell as nearly unshakable, implying that even though Dr. Strange is Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, his magic isn't as strong as an immortal's. Lucky for him it was only the Enchantress's spell, and not Karnilla's! :-)

Here we have the page that completely sums up the entire crux of the situation. Unbeknowst to our heroes, Dormammu and Loki have intercepted the reply that the Black Knight sent back to Dr. Strange. After the villains tamper with it, the message now tells Dr. Strange that the Black Knight believes that by finding and using the power of the long lost Evil Eye, an artifact of great magical power, he can be saved. And so our heroes fall into the trap set by two of the most diabolical villains of all time! This particular page has definitely got to be my favorite single comic book page of all time, despite the fact that it's a very simple, uneventful page from an action standpoint. I just love the image of two godlike beings sitting on an asteroid in the middle of nowhere, plotting what will turn into the coolest comic book story ever told.
