Spoiler Information: Avengers # 115

Loki finds himself in the Dark Dimension, in the presence of its ruler, the Dread Dormammu! Apparently Dormamu wishes to enlist Loki's aid in his latest plot against Dr. Strange. (Thus he teleported Loki to safety from the fall he took off the cliff while fighting Thor in Thor # 207.) I love the arrogance Dormammu displays when Loki mentions Odin speaking of him, and Dormammu replies "With dread, no doubt!". Classic Dormammu! This is definitely my all time favorite supervillain team-up. Two gods, both immensely powerful and totally evil, united in a common goal.

To this day, it stands as the coolest alliance I know of! I also love the bizarre Ditko-esque backgrounds that Bob Brown gave the Dark Dimension. These pages are my favorite pages of the entire saga, because it shows two of my favorite villains on an asteroid plotting together, and against each other. It simply does not get better than this!

Due to an oath Dormammu made with Dr. Strange years ago, he cannot attack Earth's dimension, but he is now aware of one of the coolest super-weapons in all of Marvel comics - the mystical Evil Eye! With this, he plans on expanding his own Dark Dimension so that it swallow Earth's dimension, thereby allowing him to attack Earth without breaking his vow since Earth's dimension will now be part of his own. I know, that's still an attack, but this is Dormammu, and his logic is alien to ours. I guess he doesn't consider it an attack. YOU go argue with him! ;-) So he recruits Loki to help him recover the Evil Eye, which is now scattered across the planet in 6 pieces after being shot out of the sky by Wyatt Wingfoot in Fantastic Four # 54. Since Loki is blind and Dormammu can't enter Earth's dimension, the plan is to trick the Defenders into retrieving it for him. Yup...all that in just three pages. :-)
