| Another very exciting battle, we see the Swordsman's skill really pressing the super-powerful Valkyrie for all she can handle! The battle pretty much goes back and forth, but you get the impression that Swordsman will win the day, when suddenly he gets shot in the back by the castle owner! ;-( At least the Swordsman manages to stab the bastard to death before he collapses! ;-) Of course, Valkyrie takes off with the prize. I love this page, with the cool swordfight as they slide down the stairwell. But what's up with that bizarre color pattern on the stone floor (no, it isn't my scanner...that IS the actual color!) Still, one of the more enjoyable of the battles. |
| This next battle is really special, since it pits old allies from WWII against one another. Let's face it, Cap is out of his league here, but the action during the battle is absolutely magical! Back and forth, with Namor knocking Cap for a loop, and Cap coming back time and again to frustrate Namor. This picture sums it up perfectly. |  |
 | This battle gets interrupted by the appearance of our guest villain announced on the cover...and he's one of my favorites...Sunfire! Definitely my favorite mutant, I was rooting for Sunfire to fly off with the Evil Eye, but I guess that would have screwed up the plot pretty well, huh? ;-) You just gotta love how proud and cocky Sunfire is...confronting both heroes and treating them like misbehaving children. Just another small touch and guest appearance that helped make this saga such a masterpiece. Of course, on the next page Namor knocks Cap off his leg, punches out Sunfire, and steals the Evil Eye back. |
